Does ChatSnapAI upload my conversations?
No. ChatSnapAI's conversation-processing features read and process conversation content locally on your device. Conversation content is not sent to ChatSnapAI servers.
Pro licensing is separate: validation sends your license key and a device identifier to the ChatSnapAI licensing service. Those requests do not include conversation content.
Why can Chrome and Edge show different privacy wording?
Browser stores use different disclosure forms and terminology. ChatSnapAI may access and process sensitive information that is already present in a conversation on your device so user-requested features such as Privacy Scan, redaction, and export can work. That conversation content is not sent to or stored on ChatSnapAI servers.
Pro licensing is a separate path that uses the license and device metadata described in this FAQ and the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is the complete description of ChatSnapAI's data handling.
Does the extension make any other network requests?
License validation communicates with ChatSnapAI's licensing service. Some optional platform-specific features can also request data from the AI service you are already using—for example, a ChatGPT history fetch designed to load a complete conversation. That traffic is between your browser and the relevant AI platform, not a ChatSnapAI conversation-processing server.
Which AI platforms are currently supported?
ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. They are the current certified public production scope. See the Supported Platforms page for installation notes and what production support means.
How do I install ChatSnapAI?
ChatSnapAI is distributed through the official Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Both listings are available now. For the complete step-by-step process, first use, and troubleshooting guidance, see the Installation Guide. Do not install copies from unofficial download sites.
What is included in Free?
Free includes everyday local exporting to TXT, Markdown, JSON and CSV, clipboard copy, message filters, range and selection controls, conversation stats, Sticky Notes, Draft Guardian, Prompt Library, local backups, Chat Wrapped, and a basic Privacy Scan.
What does Pro add?
Pro adds richer export formats and professional workflows including PDF themes, Word, HTML, EPUB, PNG, protected HTML, code extraction, advanced redaction, Certified and Compliance exports, Clean/Report mode, export history, settings backup, Sticky history/trash, automatic and bulk backup, and encrypted archives.
Why can a ChatSnapAI PDF look simpler than some cloud-rendered exporters?
ChatSnapAI generates PDF conversation output locally in your browser instead of sending the conversation to ChatSnapAI or a separate PDF-rendering server. That privacy boundary means the templates favor dependable local rendering, readable structure, and preserving the conversation over heavier server-side visual effects.
Local processing does not inherently make a PDF worse. It is a design choice about where the work happens. Some cloud-rendered exporters may offer more elaborate visual styling; ChatSnapAI puts keeping the conversation content off an exporter’s rendering server first.
How does a Pro license work?
After purchase, ChatSnapAI provides a license key. Enter it in the extension to activate Pro on a device. One Pro license supports up to two activated devices. The extension periodically validates the subscription and can continue using a cached signed entitlement during temporary service outages until that entitlement expires.
How do I manage or cancel my Pro subscription?
ChatSnapAI Pro subscriptions are managed through Link by Stripe. Sign in using the same email address you used when purchasing ChatSnapAI Pro.
In Link, select your ChatSnapAI Pro purchase to update your payment method or manage or cancel the subscription. You can also use the purchase-management link included in your receipt email.
If Link cannot locate your purchase, first check the receipt email sent after Checkout. If you still cannot access the subscription, contact chatsnapai-billing@jbrcollection.com.
What information is sent during license validation?
The licensing request contains the license key, a generated device identifier, and—during activation—an optional short device label. It does not include conversation text, notes, prompts, exports, or backup contents.
What happens if the licensing service is temporarily unavailable?
ChatSnapAI is designed to use a cached signed Pro entitlement until its signed lease expires. A temporary network or service outage should not immediately remove already-valid Pro access.
Where are notes, prompts, and backups stored?
They are stored locally using browser extension storage or files you save to your device. Sticky Notes are designed to stay associated with the exact conversation where they were created.
Can ChatSnapAI guarantee complete de-identification or legal compliance?
No. Privacy Scan, redaction, Certified export, and Compliance export are tools to help you review and prepare material. They do not replace professional judgment, legal advice, or your organization's compliance process.
